ANTIQUE GOLD INSPIRED EOTD GOLD AND BLACK

Hey everyone,
GOLD as we know is a favorite among us Indians and we are invariably attracted to this alluring metal . I just got inspired by gold for this makeup tutorial. Hope you all like it.

Here is how I acheived it.
1. Taking a flat eye shadow brush pick up some black eyeshadow matte preferablly and place it on the inner and outer corner of the lids and keep the centre of the eyes  clean.

2. Take a gold eyeshadow and pat in on the centre of the lids and taking a small blending brush with very light hands blend it into the black softly.

3. Place a medium brown eyeshadow on the crease and blend it into the black eyeshadow and blend it well and apply a matte eye shadow under the eyebrows. Apply the same gold and black eye shadows on the waterline and smudge it well.

 

4. Line your eyes with a black eyeliner and curl your eyelashes apply your mascara and you are done!

L'OREAL INFALLIBLE LIPSTICK IN FOREVER FRAPPE 814 REVIEW AND SWATCH

Hello everyone,
For today's post I am going to be reviewing the L'oreal Infallible lipstick in FOREVER FRAPPE 814.
When it comes to L'oreal I would say its lipsticks are my most preferred makeup items proceeded closely by other products.
I have one more lipstick from this range its the REFINED RUBY, which let me say is my most favorite red lipstick, okay not favorite but amongst my most most most favorite red lipstick of all time.
And this shade is no exception. This is my no nonsense go to lipstick for smokey eyes, I never think twice before using this one.

Off to the review:
PRICE: INR 900

PACKAGING: It comes in a plastic lipstick case transparent all the way including the cap, the cap snaps shut tightly which make sit very travel friendly. But I am not a fan of the packaging, it looks rather cheap compared to the other lipsticks L'oreal has, but it isnt so bad the plastic casing is quiet sturdy, you can see the lipstick and on the bottom the number and color is written, the bottom is color coordinated with the lipstick.

TEXTURE: These lipsticks are creamy and go over smoothly on your lips, and they dont settle into the lines , but if your lips are chapped you better exfoliate them before using any lipstick, that is a given. The finish is semi matte, with just the right amount of sheen.

PIGMENTATION: I get the desired color in a single swipe as these lipsticks are creamy I dont want to layer up too much product, beside it doesnt come to that as the lipstick is pretty pigmented and stays true to its color in a single swipe.

STAYING POWER: These are fairly long lasting lipsticks, a good 5-6 hours after light snacks, bu its not infallible, it does wear off after 5-6 hours and you need to reapply, but it doesnt dry the lips during the course of the day.

So overall nothing much to complain about.
I love these and would love to pick up few more shades from this range.
Do try these you wont be disappointed. Both the shades that I have are not available in India:( But the shades launched in India are all very nice. Do check.

E.L.F. STUDIO CONTOURING BLUSH AND BRONZING POWDER IN ST. LUCIA REVIEW AND SWATCHES

Hello everyone.
This post is going to be review of an E.L.F product that I believe is te most talked about product from the brand. This was my first E.L.F  purchase and I was relatively unaware of the hype surrounding this product. It has been compared to a similar duo from NARS which contains their best selling blush and bronzer, ORGA*M and LAGUNA respectively.
Yes, NARS, although I believe this product has been reviewed around a lot in the blogo-sphere I too felt the need to add my two cents...

Oh well I forgot to mention  what we are talking about. Its he E.L.F CONTOURING BLUSH AND BRONZING POWDER IN ST. LUCIA.
So well off we go to the review:

PRICE: All of E.L.F. products  are dirt cheap and this one is priced for $3 USD .
PACKAGING: The packaging is similar to the NARS duo, black matte rectangular plastic case with a mirror inside, he lid snaps shut pretty tight so it is travel friendly. I quiet like the packaging its not cheap looking.

Pigmentation:: This is interesting, while the bronzer is very pigmented and requires a very light hand for application, the pigmentation on the blush is average, and needs more product to build up. But the color of the blush is so so so pretty, you just want to have it. Both the blush and bronzer have shimmer into them but it imparts a rather healthy glow to the skin and is not chunky at all. The color of the blush is just the perfect peachy pink color and that of the bronzer is deeper brown perfect to bring out the contours of the face and also to warm the face.

I use this bronzer all the time as a contour product and the shimmer doesnt seem to bother at all. Another thing that I like a lot in the bronzer and the blush is that during the course of the day the it doesnt seem to oxidize on me and neither does the fine glitter wander away on the face.
Apart from all the other goodness one in particular that is worth mentioning is the amazing staying power of these, I was totally thrown away as I didnt expect it to last all day on me.

One of my major concern for the product was that being so cheap will it affect my skin and give me break outs and stuff, but thankfully nothing of the sorts happened.( not that paying a hefty sum of money ensures that, it just was my concern that the quality was not compromised for the price).
If I would anythign different than it would be probably just a little bit lesser shimmer. Other wise both the colors are perfect.
So overall I would say it is a MUST TRY product. I love it and have been using it for years now.

GLAMOROUS SMOKEY EYES USING MATTE EYESHADOWS

Hello everyone.
So after doing a mini series of sorts on the makeup look appropriate for day time and office wear I was in the mood to try something heavier, moving more towards the weekend, a glamorous makeup look but wasnt in the mood to use anything glittery or shimmery so I came up with a matte look. But sorry couldnt take pictures of this look step wise, just one picture in the beginning when I wasnt sure where this look was going.
Anyhooo, I shall share that one picture hopefully it gives you a jest of how to get this look.
I shall do my best to take you through the steps to achieve this look .

After prepping the face with THE BODY SHOP MATTE IT PRIMER, I applied my MAYBELLINE DREAM LIQUID MOUSSE FOUNDATION .
I then applied my LOREAL CRAYON CONCEALER UNDER THE EYES.
Then I set my face with ELF HD powder .
And then came the NYX EYESHADOW BASE .I applied it on the entire eyes including the lower waterline and blended it well.
Then I took a deep burgundy brown and applied it on the lids keeping it well below the crease.
Then I added a mid tone black eye shadow (not the blackest black) on top of that brown eyeshaow taking it over the crease slightly.

And then all I did was blend, blend, blend until I got the desired effect, and then I added the brown on the lid area again to make it pop a bit as it was too blended.
for the lower lash line too I overlapped the eye shadows first brown and then black and blended them really well. For eyeliner I just used the black eyeshadow , curled my lashes and applied loads of mascara. The picture below is with false eyelashes.

OFFICE /DAY TIME MAKEUP MAKEUP LOOK 3

Hello everyone,
So today is day 3 for the office/daytime appropriate makeup look. I know its not easy to devote a lot of time in the morning to get ready let alone keeping time aside for makeup, but I hope reading the posts in this series will prompt you to keep aside 5 minutes  for yourself, its not too much, plus when you get a hang of it, it doesnt even take that long.
Here are the two looks I did before this:

So this look I have dedicated to kajal lovers. I know there are a lot of you there.
Hope I do justice to this one.
After your face is ready and prepped with foundation and concealer and you have set it up with a matte powder proceed to the eyes. Apply a light pale pink frosted eye shadow all over the lids concentrating on the tear duct.
Apply your kajal and immediately close your eyes tightly and open it up after 5 seconds, doing this will get the kajal to transfer to the top waterline and will somewhat tightline your eyes.Just add a little bit of black eye shadow on an angled liner brush or a gel eye liner brush which ever is handy and run it along the upper lash line and smoke it out ever so lightly .
Add your mascara after curling your lashes and apply a bronzer to your cheeks to warm your face.
Apply your favorite lipstick . To change it up a bit I added a bright plumy shade but if it is too mcuh you can always go for lighter and paler shade.
Easy peasy. and quick.

Just to add a bit to it, if your office enviorment is relaxed and you can add a little bit of black eye shadow to the outer v and blend . Not too dramatic.

It is also a quick way to change your makeup from day time to night time.

P.S ..Please excuse my hairs for this post, they are still wet and so I couldn't really style them.

These are just some ideas to spruce your makeup and try the same things differently, change the shape of your eyeliner, or try some brown instead of black or use eyeshadow as liner use a bit of gloss, curl your eyelashes they instantly pick up your face and makes your eyes look bigger, warm up your face with a matte bronzer, just subtle changes nothing too dramatic or noticeable but yet making a difference.
I hope I encouraged some of you try these makeup looks, or adding your twists to it .

OFFICE/DAY TIME MAKEUP LOOK 2

In continuation the series I am going to be posting another easy breezy and quick look for the office /day time makeup look. I have already posted one look and you may check that HERE
I am keeping in mind here that these looks be achieved with as little products as possible and also more importantly they take minimal amount of time. So here is the look.

And here are the steps to achieve it.
After prepping my face with moisturizer I dot my face with bb cream/ foundation and blend it into the face using my REAL TECHNIQUES FOUNDATION BRUSH .

Then I go over my under eye area to cover up my dark circles and also to correct any dark spot or blemish on my face with a concealer.I set my face with a matte powder.Then I move on to the eye makeup

For this look I am using brown eyeliner and deep brown eye shadow.

Keeping this look soft I apply the brown eye liner to the top and bottom lash line and I go over with a deep brown matte eye shadow over the liner and smudge it a little to make it soft.

I have skipped the mascara for this look as I didnt want it to be too much, but you as well apply mascara.

I add a pink blush to my face and a pink/peach matte lipstick and I am done for the day.

OFFICE AND/OR DAYTIME EASY MAKEUP USING : NYX CHAMPAGNE AND CAVIAR EYESHADOW PALETTE

As promised this post is going to be my take on office makeup.
I am planning on doing a mini series of sorts on day time / office makeup looks, where in all the posts would be simple easy to do makeup looks. Do let me know in comments if any of you would be interested in that.

Now I know its neither practical or possible to give a lot of time for getting ready in the morning perfectly, but in a corporate or professional environment its good to look put together and poilshed all the time.
So here is what I came up with:

For the face.
After you moisturize it let it sit for a couple of minutes and proceed to eye makeup, once done with that apply your favorite BB cream or foundation ( depending on the coverage you feel your skin requires) set it up with powder, use concealer if required, I wouldnt skip it.
Set up the foundation with a powder.
Add a pinch of blush to your face for some freshness and color.
Now for the EYES:
Prime your lids. Apply a neutral shade all over the lids.
Apply a thin eye liner.
Curl your eye lashes,apply mascara
If mascara gets too much for you, I would suggest apply a clear mascara which will define your lashes.
Apply your favorite mid tone lipstick nothing too dark nothing too light.

And your simple almost no makeup but still makeup look is all set and you are ready for your office.
Now if still time permits, I would definitely say you should take a minute to groom your eyebrows, just fill it in a little bit, nothing too harsh.

FLAT IRON / STRAIGHTENER GUIDE 101 How to use a straightener / flat iron tips and suggestions

Hello everyone,
So for today's post I thought of writing some pointers for using a flat iron / straightener.
If you are wanting to buy one maybe this post will help.

BEFORE BUYING:
  Consider your usage. If you want it only for straightening or for both curling and straightening.  If you want only to straighten your hair you may choose to buy a 2 inch wide flat iron, which will fasten the process for you.

And if you want one which can curl as well then you need to ascertain how much curly you want your hairs to be, the wider the plate the looser the curl becomes. So depending on your needs you ma choose a three fourth inch or an one inch flat iron. I hope I havent confused you further.
Generally I would say an one inch flat iron is a safe bet.

Secondly, you need to buy a ceramic or ionic based flat iron. Stay away from aluminum ones.
Ceramic flat irons are costlier but worth the money. You need to buy one and its going to be fairly long lasting, so might as well save up and buy tone that is good for the hairs, or atleast better than the worse.

BEFORE USING: Read and understand the manual and working of your flat iron. And after that prep your hairs.

Never ever flat iron your hairs when they are wet, it is not a blow dryer. The moisture in the hair while being heated will make the hairs frizzy and brittle. Always wait for your hairs to dry completely. Brush it off nicely and proceed.

Never ever use a flat iron without using a heat protection spray. It is a must. Heating your hair is gonna hurt it, so the least you can do is use a good heat protection for your hairs to lessen the damage.

You can use your flat iron to curl your hairs too, but more on that in some other post.
Take small sections of hairs at a time and after the flat iron is heated up and you have applied your heat protection run the flat iron down your hairs and avoid using it on the tips of your hairs for too long, it will cause split end and dryness.
Also remember to not keep it too close to the roots.
ALWAYS wait for the hair s to cool down before using a hair spray.
