REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICK IN BLACK CHERRY 477 REVIEW

Hey everyone, today I am going to review the best and my most awesome and favorite shade for this time of the year its the REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICK IN BLACK CHERRY.

PRICED at INR 525 these lipsticks are readily available in INDIA. Yippie!!! There are around 40 shades in the super lustrous range and exactly as the name say they are lustrous!

REVLON BLACK CHERRY is a deep berry color lipstick which instantly brightens up the face. It looks almost black in the tube but thankfully its not so black.

The pigmentation is very nice, one swipe of the lipstick gives a nice cherry color on the lips, and if you want to build it up to the full extent of a dark berry look you can.
With two swipes you can get full on dark berry lips. Perfect perfect for the winter season.
The lipstick does have a sheen to it, its not matte, but if you do want  matte look you can dab a tissue on the lips and its becomes matte. The texture is semi sheen. The lipstick is creamy and is not dry at all, but if you have chapped lips its always good to exfoliate.

The color is pigmented and the formula creamy and rich so it all adds to the staying power. It easily stays upto 5 hours on my lips when it starts fading after meals. One complaint I have that this lipstick bleeds, while lighter colors are more forgiving than such darker colors so I always always apply this lipstick over a lip liner. But it leaves a beautiful stain on the lips, as it fades evenly.

BLACK CHERRY LIPSTICK, is not evryone's cup of tea, its pretty dark and goth shade. But it can very easily be used as a stain, the color it gives it beautiful.

RED LIPSTICKS FOR HOLIDAY 2013 MY PICKS

Hola, hola!!!
I had promised for this post some time back. I love Red lipsicks is no secret to those who read my blog. But I surprised even myself when I started digging out my red lipstick stash for this post. I have 6 of these now and I know atleast 3 more than I am lusting. But thankfully after doing this post I have convinced myself to not buy another Red Lipstick until I finish atleast one of this. I know not gonna happen. But still atleast it will stop me from buying the latest M.A.C retro matte ones.
So lets begin. I will go from lightest to darkest.

1.REVLON CANDY APPLE: I love this one. Okay this is going to be a common line for all the lipsticks. I love this because its my "no attention seeker" / "day time"Red lipstick. Its juicy and moisturizing and makes the lips look plump. I've had many asking me what lipstick it is. Here is the swatch and how it looks on me. I have reviewed it HERE

2. MAYBELLINE MAT 4: This is the latest addition to my stash. I bought it for the matte effect, but its not matte by any means. But I still love it ( get many compliments whenever I have applied this,, so gotta love it). Jokes apart, I like how it lifts up the entire face and it a perfect balance between blue and orange undertone. Its neither too dark not too light. Here is the  FOTD using this lipstick. 3. MAYBELLINE COLOR SENSATIONAL LIPSTICK IN FATAL RED: I got this lipstick after Lisa Eldridge recommended it in one of her YOU TUBE videos. This and one another one from REVLON Matte called REALLY RED. Girls please if any of you know where I can buy it from in INDIA please let me know. I lost mine ( very sad face) and cant find it now anywhere to repurchase.
Anyways back to Fatal Red I like this one because its not a  very fiery red, next to other red lipsticks it looks more orange. It suits Indian complexion well. Read review HERE

4. COLORBAR HEARTS AND TARTS: I have recently reviewed this lipstick, and it honestly hasnt been that long since I have bought it. But its the mattest if that is even a word) red lipstick I have. Its not too drying on the lips and is perfect for my dry lips, although exfoliation is highly recommended.You can read the detailed review along with HERE

5. RIMMEL LASTING FINISH BY KATE MOSS NO. 11: This is the most "hatke" Red, its bordering on maroon but appears on the red side on my lips. 6. L'OREAL INFALLIBLE LIPSTICK IN REFINED RUBY: This is hands down the most beautiful RED lipstick I have or want, I love it over M.A.C Russian Red and Ruby Woo . Yes you heard it right. I have swatched it side by side with those MAC. lipsticks but still loved this one more that is why they havent made an entry yet into my vanity. HERE is the review and FOTD using this favorite.

HOLIDAY GLAM LOOK 2013 : MAKEUP TUTORIAL LOTD FOTD

Hey everyone,
I am back with another makeup tutorial, seems like ages since I did one.
So this one is apt for the holiday season.  Wedding is season is on here so I think this look might come in handy during one those numerous parties and events as well. Hope you all like it. So without much ado lets just jump right into it.
Here is the look. Its in a collage format, do let me know which kind of tutorial you prefer. The collage one or separate step wise picture and description along.

So here is how I achieved this look:
1. Taking a shimmery beige eyeshadow apply it on the lids. I used "sin" eyeshadow from URBAN DECAY AMMO PALETTE.
2. Taking a warm orange/brown eyeshadow apply it on the crease bringing it halfway in. Blend it with a big fluffy blending brush.
3.Taking a matte medium brown eye shadow apply it on the outer one third of the lids.
4. Take more of the brown eyeshadow and bring in down to the lower lash line and blend it well.
5. Add a matte highlight shade under the brow bone and in the inner tear duct, apply your eyeliner.
6. Finish the look with curling your lashes and applying your favorite mascara, for more drama layer up your mascara.
For the lips I wanted to go dark, dark , dark. I am using Revlon super lustrous lipstick in BLACK CHERRY.  Red lipstick would go well with this look as well.

MAKEUP BASICS 101 ON HOW TO CONTOUR AND HIGHLIGHT YOUR FACE: PART 1 CONTOUR

Hello everyone.
I love makeup is no secret as I am a beauty blogger and most of my posts are makeup related. But for today's post I am going to share why I love makeup so much. It sometimes works magic on the face. Contour and highlight are two such tools of makeup which literally transform your face. I shall demonstrate to the best of my capability how I contour and highlight my face.
CONTOUR: What is contouring? To those who are relatively new to makeup or arent much into it let me begin by explaining what is contouring.
Contouring is basically sculpting your face in the areas where the lights dont hit the face directly and create a shadow like effect and hence brings out the contoured features more sharply and angled thereby slimming the face or the contoured area. Contouring the face allows you to add shadow and depth, not all of us are blessed with the perfect nose or the perfect cheek bones. Well no one is and you dont need to be. Contouring allows you to create the illusion. Here is how I do it. For this demonstration I am  using cream based product although one may choose powder based product too.

Taking my SONIA KASHUK FOUNDATION BRUSH I take some of the cream foundation in the 3 shades darker to my skin tone and make a fish face and apply it below me cheek bones along the length of my cheek bone.

Next I apply it along the jaw line and below my chin.

Next I apply it along the edges of the face running it all the way through the temple to the jaw-line.

Next I take the left over product on the brush and run it along the sides of the bridge of the nose like so.

 Next begins the blending. taking the same brush I start to blend in the foundation slowly with soft hands not using too much pressure on the hands else it makes the face looks muddy. You may use a sponge wedge as well, just make sure to damp it with water and squeeze out any excess water. Blend blend blend. And you are done.

From personal experience I can say few things.
1. You are not going to get it perfect when you try it first time around. So just practice you will get it right .
2. It might look odd at first since you are trying something new for the first time, but take pictures and you will see the difference.
3. When you begin contouring always take less product and build it up as required, dont load up too much product and make it messy. You can always add more product as required.
This has become a lengthy post. I shall continue with high-lighting in part two.
Hopefully the collage below will give a better idea of the before and after.

 Here is another one, hopefully you can tell the difference.

After taking the pictures I realized I could have contoured the face a bit more, then the difference would have been more noticeable , but I am overall satisfied you can always add more if you want sharper features or if you are going to be photographed in flash. This much contouring is appropriate ( according to me) for regular basis.
I have also highlighted my face in the "after shots" but will do another detailed post on that, as this post was getting too lengthy.

QUICK FOTD POST

Hello friends,
I was just browsing through my sd  card deleting old pictures when I came across this picture with a full face of makeup I did on Rakhi eve for a dinner. I thought of sharing the pictures, although no makeup illustration is there, being a beauty blogger that I am I do have lot many pictures.

For the lipstick I created a Custom shade by mixing Maybelline VIVID ROSE and Revlon Randezvous. My eye liner is burnt brown gel liner from  L'oreal in esspresso .

On the eyes I have just one eye shadow all over the lids and its a medium brown eyeshadow from the NYX WICKED DREAMS PALETTE. I just swiped the eyeshadow all over the eye lids and used a highlight shade under the brow bone and tear duct.

BLUSH is again an amalgamation of NYX CREAM BLUSH in GLOW and NYX Powder Blush in PINCHED.

REVLON NEARLY NAKED FOUNDATION REVIEW

Hello my lovely beauties,
Today I am going to be reviewing REVLON'S newest foundation on the block which is praised by all and sundry and is even being compared to the high lords such as NARS Sheer Glow Foundation and Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. Now all this hype quiet piqued me so I ordered mine at ULTA.com and prayed and prayed that it matches, its always a hit or miss with foundations when you buy them online.

So lets see what REVLON has to say about this foundation: 
Makeup so refreshingly light, it melts right in, creating a fresh even look. So the only one that knows you are wearing makeup is you. Blends seamlessly, buildable coverage. 
PRICE: Its priced at $9.99 FOR 30ML

PACKAGING: It comes in a standard glass bottle with a white cap to it and sadly no pump. Why? I mean what goes into adding a pump, increase the price if you wish but add a pump guys, it makes the job so much easier.( I hope they are reading this.)

EVERYTHING ELSE: When I first saw it through the container I thought crap! its too yellow. I got the wrong shade. With a heavy heart I proceeded and applied it took a photo and voila! was I surprised or what? The finish it gave on the skin was so flawless it wasnt quiet dewy, it was more satin finish. The shade I am using is 200 WARM BEIGE.The foundation also has a SPF OF 20 which is always good, you dont need to add one separately.

The coverage is sheer to medium,its definitely not full coverage,you can still see the skin through which I like.The foundation is not runny rather thick but the active ingredient listed is water hence although it is thick in consistency its not heavy feeling on the skin.

Now on a couple of downers for the product.
Firstly I already mentioned the pump is dearly missed. A pump would have been nice.
 And secondly even after setting the foundation with a powder it wasnt completely transfer proof .

The staying power on the foundation is decent enough  5-6 hours without any retouches, but the weather is not that warm now, so for summers I cant say much now, but I am impressed with the foundation overall, especially the satin finish it leaves on the skin.
OVERALL I would say its a nice foundation for the price point and also the finish it provides on the skin, its great on dry skin, oily skin beauties will need to do touch ups on hot summer days or apply a matte primer  underneath.
I am quiet loving it .I would definitely recommend it, if you are looking for a medium coverage foundation for use on a regular basis. I have used it in the picture below. This picture is taken in flash and I did not find any white cast on my face, so its performed well in that department too. So overall I like it.
