LORAC EYESHADOW IN GARNET REVIEW

Hey everyone!
Today I am going to be reviewing the LORAC cosmetics eyeshadow in GARNET.
 Just a little back track to the last post I did, I used this eyeshadow. And I love this color so so so much.

Okies so let me tell you a bit about LORAC. Its a high end brand started by a makeup artist whose name is CAROL SHAW. Fun fact LORAC is named after CAROL...its just CAROL spelled back wards! Its pronounced as LA-ROCK not LO-RACK . Guilty!!
Anyhoo... lets begin the review.

This eyeshadow is a part of the famous famous LORAC PRO PALETTE.
PRICE: Well when I bought it they were for $19 a piece, and now they are for $6 for 1.7 gms of product. Can you believe it. Go grab it now.

COLOR: GARNET is a medium copper eye shadow with red undertones and is almost metallic, not too reflective not too frosty either.

PIGMENTATION: GARNET is insanely pigmented, you need very little product to get the color pay off. The swatch here is a single swipe. 

TEXTURE: It goes on smooth and is not one bit chalky. I did not face any issues with the fall outs. And it goes on smooth and blends easily. These are meant to be used as wet or dry. When you want to intesify the look or use any of these eyeshadows as a liner you can use them on a damp brush.

STAYING POWER: I never apply eye shadows without a primer, and when I put this to test (with an eyeshadow primer) well it lasted well over 9 hours, I had to take my makeup off, but the eye makeup was intact. I'm sure it would have lasted even more. Staying power is amazing. By the end of the day there was no fading and no creasing what so ever. I am not kidding.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

I would say I am totally impressed with the LORAC eyeshadow GARNET, it made its way into the PRO palette is proof enough of its versatility and goodness. Its insanely pigmented, you need very little product at a time, it goes on smooth and staying power is beyond amazing.It blends like a dream, so easy to work with and the color is complimentary on everyone.  Here is the EOTD I did using the GARNET eyeshadow on the outer half of the lids.

RED CARPET READY MAKEUP

Hello everyone.
This post is going to be a quick one. I did this red carpet worthy, not that I have any red carpet event to attend. Yes it is a smokey look. I am habit bound dearies, cant help it.
Its not a step wise tutorial, but I have lots of photos to share.
I have used TARTE COSMETICS holiday palette to create this look.

I have tried another variation of this look with red lips, how can I resist red lipstick???

 Phew!!! I am not able to decide which one goes better, please do let me know in the comments which lip color do you prefer?

GLAMOROUS SMOKEY EYES USING MATTE EYESHADOWS

Hello everyone.
So after doing a mini series of sorts on the makeup look appropriate for day time and office wear I was in the mood to try something heavier, moving more towards the weekend, a glamorous makeup look but wasnt in the mood to use anything glittery or shimmery so I came up with a matte look. But sorry couldnt take pictures of this look step wise, just one picture in the beginning when I wasnt sure where this look was going.
Anyhooo, I shall share that one picture hopefully it gives you a jest of how to get this look.
I shall do my best to take you through the steps to achieve this look .

After prepping the face with THE BODY SHOP MATTE IT PRIMER, I applied my MAYBELLINE DREAM LIQUID MOUSSE FOUNDATION .
I then applied my LOREAL CRAYON CONCEALER UNDER THE EYES.
Then I set my face with ELF HD powder .
And then came the NYX EYESHADOW BASE .I applied it on the entire eyes including the lower waterline and blended it well.
Then I took a deep burgundy brown and applied it on the lids keeping it well below the crease.
Then I added a mid tone black eye shadow (not the blackest black) on top of that brown eyeshaow taking it over the crease slightly.

And then all I did was blend, blend, blend until I got the desired effect, and then I added the brown on the lid area again to make it pop a bit as it was too blended.
for the lower lash line too I overlapped the eye shadows first brown and then black and blended them really well. For eyeliner I just used the black eyeshadow , curled my lashes and applied loads of mascara. The picture below is with false eyelashes.

PURPLE SMOKEY EYES: COASTAL SCENTS 88 ORIGINAL PALETTE

Hey all,
As you know I rediscovered my love for my 88 COASTAL SCENTS palette I wanted to try another smokey look, ya I know I do smokey eyes a lot, but what can I say I like'em guys...
So lets begin...

 1. I applied wet and wild cream eye pencil in TECHNO 133 all over the lids up to the crease and also on the waterline.

2. I then applied purple eyeshadow all over the lids and on the bottom lids.

3. And then I added a majenta shade on the crease and a champagne shimmery color as the highlight.

4. I added black eyeshadow to the outer corner of lids. And then I started blending all the shades with a blending brush in small soft strokes.

5.For this look I lined my top and bottom lash line pretty heavily.

6. Some mascara and I am done.

STARTER KIT: MUST HAVE MAKEUP BRUSHES

I have often been asked by friends "what brushes and tools do I absolutely need to have to start my makeup collection?" well friends this post is the answer to your questions, but first off let me say that there are innumerable brushes out there and you might as well go and get one of each kind but the point is what do you really really when you are trying your hands at makeup or are beginning to explore this makeup world. I will go ahead and categorically describe the brushes that I think are basic must haves in your collection.

FACE:

1.FOUNDATION: There are a lot of ways to apply foundation. You can always use your fingers but for a more flawless application its better to use a brush or beauty sponge. There is a huge variety of brushes out there and it does get confusing to select but to start out with use a stippling brush or a sponge for that airbrushed look.

2.CONCEALER: In order to complete your flawless face routine you need to hide those dark circles or  redness or blemishes etc on your face. concealer comes in handy at that point. I generally prefer to use my fingers for dabbing on the concealer on my face but for concealers with a more liquid base you need to have a concealer brush.

3. BLUSH: For those perfect looking rosy cheeks you need to have a blush brush. You can go for a regular blush brush, but since its a starter kit of must have brushes if you go for an angled blush brush the same brush can double as your contour brush.

4.CONTOUR/:  As i mentioned earlier an angled blush brush will do just fine to double up as a contour brush. An angled contouring brush will help get an sharp angle for sculpting under the cheek bones and forehead and jaw line.( I will do a separate blog post on highlight and contour. )

5. POWDER BRUSH: This brush helps to powder your face  to set your foundation and concealer.

EYES: There are literally tons of brushes available for eye makeup. Do you really need so many ? Well yeah, maybe,...actually no. If you are just starting out with makeup you dont need to overwhelm yourself with so many brushes, while they do they help but for starters below listed brushes would do just fine.
1. FLAT EYE SHADOW BRUSH. This is a must have brush. It helps to pack the color on your lids, no other way to describe it you have to have it.

2. BLENDING BRUSH: There is a wide variety of blending brush available, but for starters you just need two. yes two not one but two. one has to be smaller in size and the second one has to be bigger and fluffier. Having two brushes does help in creating a better look as you can blend with the smaller brush and smoke out with the larger brush. The smaller and stiff blending brush will help smoke out eye shadow on the lower lids as well.

3.ANGLED LINER BRUSH: This brush comes in handy to apply gel eyeliner and it can also double up as your brow brush ( it helps if you have two of them separately). The second brush is for more precise application of liner using gel eyeliner.

All said I would like to add that the more brushes you have the easier its for you as you dont have to clean it up after each makeup application. You can get the job done with these brushes just fine. And as you feel more confident about your makeup skills and further dive into it you will know which brushes work for you , what more you want to add to your collection. CLUBBING MAKEUP : FOTD

Hey friends
This one is going to be just a quick post on my fotd ( face of the day). Its appropriate look for clubbing or girls night out or what ever you might fancy wearing it to. Its not a tutorial just a bunch of pics. Hope you all like it. If you want me to do a step wise tutorial for this look do let me know in the comments below. Hope you all like the pics.

EOTD USING GOLD AND BROWN

hello everyone

 this is my first ever blog post so i dont really know what i am doing right and what am i doing wrong. this post is about my EOTD ( eyes of the day). i am using gold and brown shades to create this look.

Here are all the products used.

1. apply the eye shadow base all over your lids. here i used the nyx eyeshadow base.

2 next i loaded my brush( and tapped off any extra shadow) with the gold eyeshadow and patted it over my lids.

3. next with a blending brush i picked up a little of the matte dark brown shade and started working it on my crease and blending it into the gold. 

4. next i took a white matte eyeshadow as my highlight shade and highlighted it below my eyebrows. you can use a shimmer eyeshadow if you want.

5. next i used a gel liner to line both my upper and bottom lash line and used an eye lash curler to curl my lashes and applied mascara and that is it for the eyes.

And tada here you have the completed look.
