SONIA KASHUK POINTED SYNTHETIC FOUNDATION BRUSH REVIEW

Hello everyone,
I am going to be sharing my views and review the SONIA KASHUK FOUNDATION BRUSH that I have been using for years.
PRICE: $12.99 USD.
I picked it up from Target and I remember I was so intrigued by the shape of this foundation brush  that I knew I had to have it. Before this I was using the flat foundation brush.

Coming back to this brush, its a synthetic brush with a dome shape and hence its pointy.

All the bristles in this brush are tightly packed and I have never faced any fallouts what so ever.
I love this brush as it is multi-functional .

The only area of improvement would be I wish if it were a bit larger so it could cover more at a time.
Coming back to the multi functional part, as a foundation brush it is great as it is densely packed it picks up the product well and it doesnt leave streaks on the face and blends seamlessly.

Secondly because of its shape its easy to apply foundation  near the nose under and over the eyes around the mouth and really blend it well in those tricky places.

Thirdly I also double it up as a concealer brush and using patting motions blend the concealer under the eyes.

Fourthly I also use it as a contouring brush for cream products. When ever I contour my face using a cream bronzer or a deeper shade of cream foundation I use this brush as a guide to place the product and blend it away. It is extremely useful for that.
I get good use out of this brush which ever I way use it.

REVLON NEARLY NAKED FOUNDATION REVIEW

Hello my lovely beauties,
Today I am going to be reviewing REVLON'S newest foundation on the block which is praised by all and sundry and is even being compared to the high lords such as NARS Sheer Glow Foundation and Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. Now all this hype quiet piqued me so I ordered mine at ULTA.com and prayed and prayed that it matches, its always a hit or miss with foundations when you buy them online.

So lets see what REVLON has to say about this foundation: 
Makeup so refreshingly light, it melts right in, creating a fresh even look. So the only one that knows you are wearing makeup is you. Blends seamlessly, buildable coverage. 
PRICE: Its priced at $9.99 FOR 30ML

PACKAGING: It comes in a standard glass bottle with a white cap to it and sadly no pump. Why? I mean what goes into adding a pump, increase the price if you wish but add a pump guys, it makes the job so much easier.( I hope they are reading this.)

EVERYTHING ELSE: When I first saw it through the container I thought crap! its too yellow. I got the wrong shade. With a heavy heart I proceeded and applied it took a photo and voila! was I surprised or what? The finish it gave on the skin was so flawless it wasnt quiet dewy, it was more satin finish. The shade I am using is 200 WARM BEIGE.The foundation also has a SPF OF 20 which is always good, you dont need to add one separately.

The coverage is sheer to medium,its definitely not full coverage,you can still see the skin through which I like.The foundation is not runny rather thick but the active ingredient listed is water hence although it is thick in consistency its not heavy feeling on the skin.

Now on a couple of downers for the product.
Firstly I already mentioned the pump is dearly missed. A pump would have been nice.
 And secondly even after setting the foundation with a powder it wasnt completely transfer proof .

The staying power on the foundation is decent enough  5-6 hours without any retouches, but the weather is not that warm now, so for summers I cant say much now, but I am impressed with the foundation overall, especially the satin finish it leaves on the skin.
OVERALL I would say its a nice foundation for the price point and also the finish it provides on the skin, its great on dry skin, oily skin beauties will need to do touch ups on hot summer days or apply a matte primer  underneath.
I am quiet loving it .I would definitely recommend it, if you are looking for a medium coverage foundation for use on a regular basis. I have used it in the picture below. This picture is taken in flash and I did not find any white cast on my face, so its performed well in that department too. So overall I like it.

REVIEW: MAYBELLINE DREAM LIQUID MOUSSE FOUNDATION

Monsoon is here in full swing and while all that is good and well monsoon does bring its fair share of humdity in the air does demanding a change in the makeup routine. What works in the summer will not not work during he monsoon and what works now will definitely not work during the winters. The reason I mention this is because this foundation sat in my vanity for a long time because I bought it at the wrong time. But I rediscovered it in the summer months and thought about reviewing it for you all.
First off lets see what maybelline has to say about this foundation.

PACKAGING: I love using liquid foundations they are my favorite, however most of the foundations are packaged in a simple bottle with just a lid which is always a hassle to use but this foundation is a savior. It comes in a transparent glass bottle with a pump. It doesnt however come with a lid but you can close it after use by twisting it clockwise, nice huh? It makes it travel friendly. 

Now lets talk about the color selection. Well there arent many to choose from. You are lucky if you find your exact match. The shade that I have is a tad bit lighter than I would prefer but I make it work after contouring, but it isnt ideal I would admit. 

Regarding the texture and pigmentation I would say I am really impressed while the coverage is medium it is definitely buildable to full ,  a little bit of foundation goes a long way, and blends like a dream( pun intended). Its thicker than an average liquid foundation and has a mousse kind of texture to it though its not heavy looking or feeling on the face, just dont over use it as it provides excellent coverage, build up the amount as required.It really blends into the skin and provides a flawless finish, but remember to moisturize your face first. 

Another thing to note is that this foundation does not have any SPF. which is a plus and minus both, because for any night time event or outing you can always skip the spf and photograph well, SPF foundations give a white cast to the photos . Where as for daytime use you need to add the extra step, if however you have oily skin just do the spf skip the moisturizer. 

Phew...that is too much talk....

The staying power on this foundation is pretty good, the maximum I have had it on is for 6-7 hours and it did a good job, I have dry skin no I did not have any issues, it might not be the same for people with oily skin ,so a mattifying powder might be required for setting the foundation and for touch ups.

Overall I am happy with this foundation and would recommend it as a nice budget buy.  It gives beautiful coverage with a dewy to matte finish and its lightweight and doesnt feel heavy on the face.

REAL TECHNIQUES EXPERT FACE BRUSH REVIEW : THE BEST FOUNDATION BRUSH

Monsoon is here and I dont miss summers...yeah well I do...with all the messiness the rain brings...but I am more than happy with the soaring temperatures cooling down.
Well all the monsoon talk has nothing to do with this post.this post is all about my very first Real Techniques Expert Face brush.

I am very thrilled to have this particular brush because for me I think I cant have enough foundation brushes, I just want the very best brush to do all the blending for me for that flawless looking skin.
Now this brush in one word is just AWESOME.

I have a variety of foundation brushes but they all seem to have some flaw, not that I dont use them I do all the time but this brush I havent found anything wrong with it as of now.
The brush is priced $8.99 and I got it from ULTA. Though you can order it online from some other sites who ship it to India. iherb you can buy it from here.
Now for the brush, its dense and soft hence it makes blending the foundation on the skin easy. Its ideal for blending liquid an cream foundation.

My only wish were that it was a little more broad so it could cover more area at once on the face.
It blends the foundation on the skin like a dream.
I usually dot my face with liquid foundation and then use this brush to go over my face and its done.

Upon cleaning this brush I did not find it bleeding or the brush becoming harsh, I dont have anything negative to say about it other than I wish that they were readily available in India.

I would say if you can get  hand on this brush dont miss the chance.

MAKEUP 101: BACK TO BASICS SERIES : FOUNDATION

This post is going to be a first in a series of blog posts to follow about the basics of makeup. This post is dedicated to FOUNDATION and all you need to know about it. Hope you like it and also do let me know what should the next post be about in this series.

WHY FOUNDATION?
Many of us have often wondered I dont need to look like a makeup doll or end up having a caked up face its better to avoid foundation and go for the eyes or lips. Right? Wrong. A finished makeup look cant be achieved without a proper base. All you need to know is what color to use and what coverage to use.
Lets talk about coverage first:

COVERAGE :

LIGHT COVERAGE:  This type of foundation is good for the blessed ladies with good skin. Tinted moisturizer or light coverage liquid foundation with sheer coverage is ideal for light coverage.budget buy  splurge buy .
MEDIUM COVERAGE: This is most vastly used foundation as it is neither too light nor to too heavy. But a personal suggestion would be opt for a foundation that has medium to full coverage , i.e... the coverage is build-able.
FULL COVERAGE: One should be very careful while using a full coverage foundation as it can easily make your face cook cakey.  it is generally more used for coverage under bright lights

Now lets talk about kind of foundations:

TYPE:

LIQUID FOUNDATION: This is most common of all kinds of foundations and most commonly used due to its ease of application. Liquid foundations give the skin a healthy glow and dewy finish. This type of foundation is generally suited for dry skin and oil free ones are good for oily skin types. Liquid foundations have build-able coverage too. budget buy and splurge buy
PRESSED POWDER FOUNDATION: Pressed powder foundations also known as compacts are used more as setting powder and touch up makeup. It comes in handy for oily skin budget buy   splurge buy
CREAM FOUNDATION: These foundations generally have full coverage and are heavier than liquid and powder foundations. Cream foundations are most apt for mature skin. Full coverage foundations also come in handy for covering blemishes, dark spots, pigmentation etc. compared to other foundations. splurge buy
MINERAL FOUNDATION: Mineral makeup comes in the form of loose powder. Its not so much of a preferred foundation for dry skin as its powder based. But nonetheless there is a wide variety out there.

Now lets talk about how to choose the perfect color.

COLOR:

How to choose the perfect color of your foundation is the most common dilemma faced. Here are few tips.

1. Please never try and match the color for your foundation on your wrist, instead you should try and match the shade on your jawline. The color that blends the most and is invisible after blending is your perfect shade.

2. Please try to match the color of your foundation to the color of your skin not to the color you want your skin to be. The purpose of foundation is to even out your skin tone not to make you look fairer or tanner.

3. You can opt for two kinds of foundations light to medium coverage for day time wear and one medium to full coverage for night time and special occasions.

Now lets just go through some quick tips and tricks for a flawless application.
1. Always and I mean always moisturize your skin before applying foundation and let it rest on your skin for a good 5 minutes, let the skin soak up the moisture. Even if you have oily skin dont skip this step use an oil free moisturizer.
2. If using fingers to apply foundation make sure your hands are sanitized and clean.
3. If you are using sponge to apply foundation make sure to dampen it with water before applying.
4.Always set your foundation with powder to keep it in place.
